Professional Training Programs

Ancient Insights. Modern Healing.

The American Viniyoga Institute™ (AVI) is a leader in training yoga teachers and Yoga Therapists in Viniyoga.  We honor the integrity of ancient teachings while making them relevant and practical today.

Trainings begin again in 2018.

We currently offer the following professional training programs:

AVI Viniyoga Foundations Program

The AVI Viniyoga™ Foundations Program for Teaching and Yoga Therapy (VFP) training is designed to offer students several options based upon their educational goals. AVI respects what you already know about yoga and offers the opportunity to advance your studies of Viniyoga for personal development, teaching, or to enter the AVI Viniyoga Therapist Training. VFP is the first component of the two-part Viniyoga Therapist Training program, but can be completed in two (200-hr), three (300-hr) or four (500-hr) sessions for Viniyoga teacher certification.

The Viniyoga Foundations Program for Teaching and Yoga Therapy is approved by Yoga Alliance at the 200, 300 and 500 hour level:

  1. 500 hour Viniyoga Teacher
  2. 300 hour Viniyoga Wellness Instructor
  3. 200 hour Viniyoga Instructor

AVI Yoga Therapist Training

The AVI Viniyoga Clinical Applications Program (VCAP) is open to students who have successfully completed the requirements of the first component of AVI’s Viniyoga Therapist Training Program: VFP or an earlier AVI Teacher Training program. Students who have completed a 500 hour yoga teacher training in the lineage of T.K.V. Desikachar and T. Krishnamacharya may be able to enter this training with some pre-requisite work. Questions regarding eligibility for the program should be directed to our Student Advisor, Dona Robinson.

The AVI Viniyoga Therapist Training Program prepares experienced Viniyoga teachers to work with individuals with structural, physiological and emotional conditions. Our program emphasizes the development of clinical skills in Viniyoga Therapy for work with individuals and groups.
