Certified 500 hour Viniyoga Teacher, Certified Viniyoga Therapist

My Yoga Therapy teaching path began in 2001 after attempts to address chronic pain in my mid-back, hips and sacrum through the use of Velcro corsets and duct tape - physical therapy techniques oriented towards providing passive and external stability - failed. I also recognized that mindfulness, cultivated through a consistent practice, would help me better address worry, self-induced stress and indeed, pain. I had just relocated to the Midwest after having been promoted to a marketing position for a multi billion dollar, global healthcare company.

In 2012, after 11 years of practicing Yoga, I enrolled in a Yoga teacher training course to deepen my understanding of the practice and its philosophy. It was during that time that I read a quote from the Journal of Yoga Therapy and learned about the range of structural, physiological and psycho-emotional health disorders that were being treated by Yoga Therapy. I knew then that I had found my calling.

My near decade long experience in the medical device field selling and marketing to orthopaedic surgeons, pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, radiologists and oncologists, as well as my experience as an athlete and academic seeker particularly in the fields of neuroscience and biomechanics uniquely suit me for the field of Yoga Therapy. My former Yoga practice has also informed me as it often brought persistent pain because of group instruction that was not adapted to address my hyper mobility. I did not know how to adapt poses let alone feel comfortable doing so. This has profoundly influenced my perspective on contemporary yoga and the field of Yoga Therapy.

Recognized as a deeply grounding and nurturing teacher who brings both the scientific and experiential background to my study and work, my practice is based in the Denver, Colorado metro area. My experience as a volunteer with The Denver Hospice gave me the opportunity to learn Reiki, another modality I use in my practice to calm the nervous system and promote healing. I have been a proud member of The International Association of Yoga Therapists since 2013.
