Integrated Viniyoga Practice

This class with America’s leading teacher of Viniyoga, Gary Kraftsow, helps participants understand their own unique needs in a way that allows them to design specific practices to promote effective healing for a wide range of conditions. Our time together includes an integrated practice of Viniyoga. This class is particularly useful and relevant for yoga practitioners, yoga teachers, and health-care professionals and is open to those with or without previous yoga experience.

Foundations of Tantric Yoga
Saturday September 1, 2018 3:00pm – 5:45pm
Learn the philosophical foundations of Tantric Yoga, as well as the methods and purposes of the various practices that have emerged from the tradition. Explore the integrated use of breath-centric āsana, prāṇāyāma, and mudra to bring awareness into the central channel, and the journey along the path to liberation. We will activate mantra in the cakra-s through central channel breathing and use the power of meditation to affect deep inner transformation.

Cakra-s and Emotional Health

The ancient chakra system is a complex model of the integrated human being, in which deep dimensions of our personality are revealed. Using this system as a guide, we’ll explore the emotional characteristics represented by each cakra, how to recognize imbalance based on symptoms of emotional distress, and tantric methods for cultivating qualities such as tranquility, courage, compassion, and joy.
Viniyoga Therapy for the Upper Back, Neck and Shoulders

Gary will present the means and methods for working with chronic and acute structural conditions including: assessment, goals, treatment strategy and application. Explore biomechanics of the lower back, sacrum and hips, and the types of problems that can affect these areas. We will experience a sequence of adapted āsana-s designed to relieve symptoms and strengthen these areas of the body.
Meditation for Modern Life: The Phenomenon of Attention
Monday, September 3 • 9:00am – 11:15am
Bring the power of meditation into your life by learning the steps to create a personal meditation ritual for insight into the possibility of peace. We’ll focus on reducing mental agitation, shifting attention away from distractions, developing the capacity for attention, and breaking identification with past conditioning. Using ancient insights for modern healing, we’ll learn how to abandon superficial distractions and become more deeply who we are.
