Gary Kraftsow, MA, E-RYT 500, is Founder and Director of the American Viniyoga Institute. He has been actively involved as a practitioner of Viniyoga for almost four decades. He has many years of experience as a teacher, Yoga Therapist, and trainer of teachers and Yoga Therapists in the Viniyoga methodology. Gary is directly involved in the training on a daily basis and is the main lecturer. Students will benefit from his lectures, practices, and case studies at the training and his leadership in and knowledge of the evolution of the Yoga Therapy profession in the United States.

Mary Hilliker, RD, E-RYT-500, Certified Viniyoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist

AVI Viniyoga Therapist Training.

Mary is a graduate of the University of WI-Madison with a B.S. in General Dietetics and holds certifications for a 200 hour Yoga teacher training in 2002, the 500 hour AVI Viniyoga Teacher Training in 2007 and the AVI Yoga Therapist Training in 2009. Mary had a 25+ year career in public health in nutrition and chronic disease prevention, most recently with the UW-Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center, which informs her work as a teacher, Yoga Therapist and AVI faculty member. She has worked with AVI in various capacities and is currently the AVI 200 hr. Viniyoga Wellness Instructor Training Coordinator. Mary resides in Wausau, WI where she provides individualized Yoga Therapy and teaches general, worksite, senior and Yoga Therapy classes, workshops and retreats.
Juris Zinbergs, Certified Viniyoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist

AVI Viniyoga Therapist Training.

Juris is faculty for several AVI trainings, including the Viniyoga Teacher Training, Foundation for Yoga Therapy, and the Viniyoga Foundations Program and the Viniyoga Therapist Training. He began practicing yoga in 1993. Juris graduated as a Certified Viniyoga™ Teacher from the American Viniyoga™ Institute in 1997. He then completed AVI's Yoga Therapist Training. Juris can be seen demonstrating Yoga postures in Gary Kraftsow’s book, Yoga for Transformation. He currently teaches open group classes at Yoga Works, UC Irvine, 24 Hour Fitness, and Newport Workout and sees private Yoga Therapy clients in southern California. He also leads small private group retreats and provides mentoring for Yoga teachers interested in improving their teaching skills.
Kenneth Tom, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, RYT 500,

Ken is an AVI certified Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist. He is a licensed speech-language pathologist specializing in the treatment of voice disorders and is currently Associate Professor of Communicative Disorders in the Department of Human Communication Studies at the California State University, Fullerton. Kenneth completed a Master’s degree in speech-language pathology at San Diego State University and a Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Iowa focusing on voice acoustics and biomechanics. His teaching and research focus on voice acoustics and physiology, voice disorders, and care of the professional voice. He integrates the tools of yoga, myofascial release, acupressure and techniques adapted from theatre/singing voice into his work in voice care/rehabilitation.
Clare Collins, RN, PhD, FAAN, CYT, E-RYT-500,

Clare Collins is certified by the American Viniyoga Institute as a Viniyoga Teacher (2003) and Viniyoga Therapist (2005). She completed a Master's Degree in Mental Health Nursing at Yale University, Ph.D. in Counseling at University of Michigan and a 5-year post-doctoral research fellowship in geriatric mental health at NIMH. Clare has assisted and taught in AVI programs since 2002 and is a consultant to AVI for trainings and projects. Currently, she is a Viniyoga Therapist in East Lansing, Michigan, Professor Emeritus of Nursing at Michigan State University and has served on the Board of the International Association of Viniyoga Therapists. Clare is faculty for the AVI Viniyoga Therapist Training and has been Training Coordinator for multiple AVI Training Programs.
Mary Hallway, OTR/L, CYT,

AVI Viniyoga Therapist Training.

Mary is a licensed occupational therapist and owner of a multidisciplinary pediatric private practice in Southern California. She teaches post graduate education courses for therapists nationally and internationally. Mary received her advanced teacher certification from AVI in 2003 and certification as Viniyoga Therapist in 2005. She conducts group and individual Viniyoga therapy for a variety of individuals with health conditions and disabilities. Mary has been a staff assistant with the AVI Teacher Training. She has assisted and taught in the Viniyoga Therapist Training Program and is a consultant with AVI on curriculum planning and development. In addition, several experienced AVI-Trained Viniyoga Therapists join the training as assistants and guest faculty.
