Explore the means and methods for working with chronic and acute structural conditions using assessment, goals, treatment strategy, and application. Explore the biomechanics of the upper back, neck, and shoulders, and the types of problems that can affect these areas. We'll experience a sequence of adapted asanas designed to relieve symptoms as well as strengthen these areas of the body.

Our intention is affected by our thoughts, feelings, and desires, which are in turn affected by our conditioning. As we begin to gain control of our mind, we develop the determination and strength to overcome our conditioning and to continue the inner journey. Come learn how the ancients utilized specialized practices like sankalpa (setting intention and making commitments) and nyasa (ritualized actions or gestures) in order to loosen attachments and allow the inner light of the True Self to emerge and illumine the mind.

Exploring the Chakras for Emotional Health

The ancient chakra system is a complex model of the integrated human being in which deep dimensions of our personality are revealed. We'll explore the relationship between physical and emotional health using the chakra model, and develop practices to restore equilibrium.

Experience the successful National Institutes of Health–recognized Viniyoga protocol for lower back pain--as we investigate the biomechanics of the lower back, sacrum, and hips and learn about the types of problems that can affect these areas.

Evidence-Based Viniyoga Therapy for Stress Management

Stress and disturbing emotions play a primary role in contributing to disease. Come learn the techniques that Gary used in a twelve-week multiregion study on stress management for Aetna Insurance Company. Using interventions including asana, breathing techniques, and relaxation, the data showed statistically significant results in reducing stress. Through lecture and practice, Gary will cover methods used in the study to relieve musculoskeletal tension and headaches, improve sleep, increase feelings of well-being, and improve coping strategies for dealing with stressful events and the subsequent negative symptoms.
