Friday Afternoon Session TF01: Yoga Therapy for Sleeplessness and Insomnia
Insomnia and sleeplessness are two common and troubling symptoms of chronic physiologically based conditions. The stress and strain of daily life, changing emotional landscapes, diet, environmental toxicity, and hereditary tendencies can all contribute to the development and exacerbation of many different conditions that produce similar symptoms. As we age, the length and quality of our sleep can be significantly affected. We will explore the theory, principle, and practices of yoga therapy to address these conditions and specific yoga therapy strategies for age-related and chronic conditions. Strategies will include adaptation of asana, breath awareness and pranayama and contraindications to their use.
