Friday, May 2: Asana: Optimizing Structure

10:00 am - 1:00 pm:  Focus on the means and methods to achieve the outer goals of Asana practice including: alignment, stability, appropriate range of motion, resilience, symmetry, and functional movement patterns.

3:00 pm - 6:00 pm:  Focus on the means and methods to achieve the inner goals of Asana practice including: cultivating awareness of the central channel, increasing and directing the flow of prana in the nadi-s, and strengthening the inner fire – agni.

In both sessions, we will explore how to adapt and individualize asana to help us achieve these goals.

 

Saturday, May 3: Pranayama: Optimizing Physiology

10:00 am - 1:00 pm:   Focus on the means and methods to achieve the outer goals of Pranayama practice: increasing vitality, improving sleep, enhancing energy, managing stress, stimulating immune response, influencing sympathetic/parasympathetic regulation to optimize physiological processes.

3:00 pm - 6:00 pm:  Focus on the means and methods to achieve the inner goals of Pranayama practice including: building prana shakti, directing agni for purification, balancing the emotions, clarifying the mind.

In both sessions, we will explore how to adapt and individualize pranayama to help us achieve these goals. Afternoon session will include teachings on and practice of bandhas.

 

Sunday, May 3: Meditation: Optimizing Cognitive Capacity

9:00 - 12:00 pm:  Focus on the means and methods to achieve the outer goals of Meditation practice including: overcoming distraction and increasing our capacity to sustain focused attention, deepening our capacity for self-reflection and identifying how memory and conditioning influence perception, cultivating non-attachment.

1:30 - 4:30 pm:  Focus on the means and methods to achieve the inner goals of Meditation practice including: recognizing the true nature of Self, cultivating insight and wisdom – buddhi shakti.
