Foundational Practices of Tantric Yoga: The Secrets of Breathcentric Asana and Pranayama
Gary Kraftsow - Course ID: M6KRAF
Sunday, July 15 — 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Main Conference - Session 6
Mixed Levels
Experience the powerful inner tools of psychophysical transformation esteemed by the Tantric yogis of India. To support the inner journey of yoga, the ancients evolved a little-known system of breath adaptation in asana, not in the service of structural transformation, but in the service of pranayama. We'll systematically examine this hidden science and, with that as a foundation, explore the theory and practice of pranayama. These integrated practices were designed to cultivate and strengthen our vital energy (prana shakti) so that we can direct that energy inward to face the deeper work of mastering our minds.
Lecture, discussion, asana, and pranayama.
Anxiety and Depression
Gary Kraftsow - Course ID: AMKRAF
Monday, July 16 — 9:00am - 4:30pm
Monday All-Day Intensives
Therapeutic, Mixed Levels
Explore the yoga-therapy perspective and methods for working with anxiety and depression. We'll focus on psychological aspects of the human system, explore models of the integrated personality that emerge from Vedic teachings, and discover the science of meditation that the ancients developed for reducing suffering and cultivating our higher human potential. Recognizing the direct influence of thought and emotion on biochemistry and knowing that positive states have a deeply restorative impact on the entire system, we are able to develop certain practices to transform negative qualities of mind, promote general well-being, and manage the symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Lecture, discussion, and asana.
