It was a great pleasure to read the New York Times article about Mark Bertolini and Aetna’s expanding commitment to implementing Mind-Body Stress Management Programs within their own organization as well as encouraging other companies to do the same.

Viniyoga teachers continue to lead classes for Aetna employees at their various corporate locations.  As mentioned in the article, classes fill quickly and tend to get overbooked. More importantly, employees feel the residual effects: less stress, better sleep, less pain and more productivity. Their employers reap the benefits of a healthier workforce.

The article also describes the 2012 study on stress conducted in conjunction with AVI, the Integrative Medicine Program at Duke University and eMindful. Results of the study were published in the The Journal of Occupational Health Psychology and demonstrated the remarkably beneficial effects of asana and meditation on coping with stress.
